Lovesessed is a short novel that can be purchased as a free ebook on Amazon. Being the type to enjoy reading regardless of who the work is by, I decided to give it a chance because there is always a possibility of finding an untapped treasure in unknown authors. Unfortunately, this work was in my opinion mediocre. I try my best to not be harsh on writers because I know that everyone has their own taste and style of writing, but this one I just can’t let go of.

To start off, the style of the writing was that of a child. There were misspelled words and grammatical errors all over the place in this book. Apparently the author took it upon herself to self-publish her novel, which I might add, there is no shame in. I would do the same thing myself. It is obvious, though, that with the numerous errors in the book, there is no way that it was properly edited.

I could honestly look past the errors in the writing if the story had more depth. Lovesessed is basically about a fourteen year old girl that is so obsessed with a teen rock star that she enlists her friend’s help to concoct a “love potion” for lack of a better term. That could have potential to be a really good story for someone within the same age group as the main character Phoebe. Unfortunately the way it was written made it look like more of a bad fan fiction novel than anything else. The reason I say it seems like a bad fan fiction is the fact that the rock star that Phoebe is “in love” with is the middle brother of a band of three brothers. That sounds a lot to me like the author has at some point or another been a fangirl for either Hanson or the Jonas Brothers. I will say that there is nothing wrong with writing fan fiction and there’s nothing wrong with being a fangirl. I myself am a Jonas Brothers fan, however delusional fan fictions should not be made into a novel. That’s when things just cross a line into the obsessive territory.
